Just 3 millimetres. This is the size of the ball on the tip of the needle which makes fuel flow from injectors in our cars.
During production, the ball must be assembled with its coated part facing up. Precise handling of such small components is a hard problem.
Our assembly benches feature a vision system that takes a 3D scan of the matrix containing the balls, including the different orientations of the coatings. Based on these data, a robot picks each ball from the middle of the coated part, which then will be always on the top.
